Committees

We have a number of committees at Dingmans Ferry United Methodist Church that help guide the church.

 

The Administrative Board (Ad Board) is the governing body of the Church. The responsibility of the Ad Board is to oversee and make decisions affecting the operations and policies of the Church.  The Ad Board is composed of chairpersons representing the various committees, as well as church staff.  Voting rights are reserved for committee chairpersons.   `

 

Trustees - Trustees are Christian stewards of the property God has entrusted to the congregation.  The trustees supervise and maintain the property of the congregation to ensure that disciple-making ministries of the congregation are effective and that local legal requirements related to the property are satisfied.  The Trustees Committee meets at 7pm on the first Monday of the month.

  

Finance - The primary purpose of the Finance Committee is to carefully manage the Church's financial resources, propose and manage the annual budget and to provide stewardship education for the Church congregation and the community served.  The Finance Committee meets at 6pm on the first Monday of the month.

  

Staff/Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) - This committee works with the pastor and staff to work effectively in managing the ministry of the congregation and fulfill legal and ethical responsibilities related to staff.  The SPRC chairperson is the congregation’s primary connection with the district superintendent.  SPRC typically meets every 2-3 months on the second Monday of the  month, with ad hoc meetings scheduled as needed.

  

Visions - The Visions Committee develops and directs the strategic planning for the church by evaluating our church's goals and ministries and identifying the goals and vision of our church.

  

Worship - The Worship Committee provides opportunities for worship celebrations that focus on God, help people of all ages grow in their understanding of the Gospel, and become better equipped for daily living as faithful disciples. This committee is also responsible for sanctuary vestments and seasonal decorations.

  

Mission Ministries - The Missions Committee helps plans and coordinate the various mission ministries our church is involved in such as Clothing Giveaway, Baby Blessings Pantry, Food Cupboard, London Broil Dinners, Community Emergency Support, etc. Meetings are scheduled on an as needed basis and prior to events for planning purposes.

 

 Lay Leadership - The Lay Leadership Committee helps identify and support lay leaders as we work to fulfill our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ.

 

 Tree of Life Preschool Board - The Tree of Life Preschool Board oversees the operations and policies of the Tree of Life Preschool. The Board meets quarterly in October, January, April and June.

  

Family Ministries - The Family Ministries Committee is responsible for planning family events that are open to the community to encourage new families to participate and join the church. This committee will also support youth group and youth service events such as preparing college student care packages. Meetings are scheduled on an as needed basis and prior to events for planning purposes.

  

Educational Ministries - The Educational Ministries Committee is the foundation for lifelong learning and growth toward a mature and vital faith. This committee is responsible for planning and overseeing Sunday School and Vacation Bible School (VBS). The Sunday School teachers meet weekly for Bible Study and planning for VBS begins in May.

  

Nursing Home Ministries - Several times each month, the Nursing Home Ministries team provides visits and spiritual comfort to residents of Belle Reve and Milord Senior Care.

  

Nominations and Leadership - The Nominations Committee meets in the late summer/early fall to identify which new committee members and chairpersons are nominated for approval at the annual church conference in the fall. They may also meet throughout the year as needed to nominate individuals when committee vacancies occur.

  

Communications - The Communications Committee includes publicity for the church and church events, the church website and also the Facebook pages for the church and Tree of Life. The Communications Committee meets as needed.
