Miller's Mumblings

Christmas 2014

Traveling Preacher's Wife

Christmas Blessings from the wife of the traveling preacher representing the Millers.

Our family was extremely blessed this year with Doug being honored by West Virginia Wesleyan College, receiving an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree on Founders Day.  Some of our family members were able to attend the celebration, including our youngest grandson, Lincoln Andrew Miller, born on May 8th to Dave and Jennifer Miller.  We have a picture of Lincoln under the statue of Brother John Wesley in front of Wesley Chapel. Ashley, Shaun '13 and Lisa Greer '83 also represented the family.  Elaine, Chuck and Matt Wing '07 honored us. Elaine presented the 'family picture” of Doug to the Founder's Day gathering.  She was rather kind. Bill '62 and Eleanor Linger Miller '61 were at our table.  Bill was the first of 300 students that Doug introduced to Wesleyan.  It was an unforgettable weekend. Our gang is everywhere, Darin is in San Francisco, Steve in Columbus, OH, Beth in South Ranches, FL, Dawn on Hutchinson Island, FL, Dave in Keansburg, NJ, Lisa in Wantage, NJ and Jill in Cresskill, NJ.  We have seventeen grandchildren and, to our joy two great grands Tripp and Harper, who live with their parents, Casey '06 and Dan Golden '06, in Maryland.  Doug is the Lead Pastor serving two churches located along the Delaware River; one in Barryville, New York and the other in Dingmans Ferry, PA.  Both churches are wonderful- filled with people of grace and love, some fellow clergy and lay servants are serving with him. Doug is also the Outreach Secretary for the GNJAC Centenary Fund which supports retired clergy and families. And of course, we travel to Kentucky each summer to participate in the Red Bird Mission.  Our Condo-the Windjammer in Cape Canaveral, Florida is enjoyed by all family and friends.  We will be going there in May. Our Pocono home is on the market, as we are in transition and may be moving into the Dingmans Ferry parsonage when the house sells.  Our sadness this Christmas is losing Champ the Wonder Dog. Champ went into our memory bank on August 22, 2014; He is truly missed as he shared our lives for eleven years. His joy and enthusiasm for life is still with us.  It is lonely here at 109 Ledgeway Lane without him. In conclusion, I try to keep things going, provide meals, housing and words of support for the traveling preacher.  That is not easy! So this Christmas we hold up the whole package, Dan, Dave, Duh Gee, Shaun, Ashley, Julissa, Vanessa, Emma, Olive Jar, Annie, Kyle, Amy, Audriana, Dennis, Lincoln, Briggs and Mary Darin the Diva, plus those extra special spouses of the Miller children that bear the responsibility of living with the Doug Miller-DNA.

Blessings on you! May we all serve under the Lord's mandate found in Matthew 25.

Your friend, Priscilla, for Doug Miller and Joe Moth (his college pen name.)
