EMERGING NEW FEATURES

Those who have not recently visited the church’s Prayer and Meditation Grove should be seeing some new features emerging.  Prominent among those features is a series of four (4) benches that encircle the periphery of the Prayer Circle.  The benches are the result of a winter season of work by Art Birtner, who hand-crafted each bench from ‘scratch,’ using materials that are durable and weather resistant, and which will greatly enhance the use, functionality and appearance of the Prayer Circle.  Art was given some additional assistance from two of his church ‘Wood-Carver’ buddies, Gary Stevenson and Ray Costanza.  Hats-off to these guys for a job well done!  And planned for additional development are six additional benches for the Chapel!

Look for other emerging features during the weeks to come:  1) a I Corinthian Garden, featuring the themes of ‘Faith, Hope and Love,’ and the planter barrels that George Aber is lovingly stocking with colorful plants  2) a Chapel Alcove that will highlight three prominent symbols of the Christian Faith (the ‘Cross, the Stone, and the Dove’)  3) the beginnings of a St. Francis Meditation Garden that will focus on the wisdom and nature meditations of St. Francis of Assisi, and 4) a number of colorful signs that will add color and interpretation to a variety of Grove features.

Finally, plan to visit the ‘Grove Room,’ (inside the church- adjacent to the entrance narthex of the church) to find description and interpretive materials relating to the Prayer and Meditation Grove, as well as the “Book of Recognition and Grateful Appreciation,” that will be permanently housed in the Grove Room to give recognition to all who have made significant donations and/or contributions to the development of the Grove thus far.
